2017 EEO-1 SURVEY DEADLINE IS
MARCH 31, 2018
For businesses required to complete the 2017 EEO-1 Survey, the filing deadline has been delayed to March 31, 2018. Is your business required to file form EEO-1? The EEO-1 form is a report filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which is mandated by federal civil rights laws. Federal law requires that certain employers report on the racial/ethnic and gender composition of their workforce by job category.
Who is Required to File?
All employers with a location in the United States that have at least 100 employees are required to file the EEO-1 Survey annually. In addition, federal government contractors and first tier subcontractors with 50 or more employees and at least $50,000 in contracts must file, as well.
How to File?
The filing deadline for the 2017 EEO-1 Survey is March 31, 2018. The reporting system is entirely online at the EEOC’s website, including instructions and FAQ’s. Here is a link to the EEO-1 Survey online: EEO-1 Website. For the 2017 reporting years, surveys must include employment data from a pay period in the 4th quarter of 2017.
The EEOC has not defined how the 50 or 100 employees are to be counted. If your business is close to or has exceeded either of these thresholds at some point during the year 2017, and especially during the 4th Quarter, you should strongly consider filing or seek legal advice to determine compliance.
