Minimum Wage Increases to $9.45/Hr. Effective January 1, 2019

Michigan’s minimum wage increases to $9.45 per hour effective January 1, 2019.  This increase was enacted by the Legislature in an effort to thwart a ballot proposal that would have raised the state’s minimum wage to $10.00.  Businesses with workers in Michigan need to be aware of the higher minimum wage, and ensure that all hourly employees in the state are paid at least $9.45 per hour effective January 1, 2019.

Michigan is one of 22 states (and the District of Columbia) raising their minimum wage rates for 2019 – a group that includes California, New York, Florida and Ohio.  If you have questions or concerns about the new minimum wage rates in Michigan or elsewhere, Loomis Law Firm’s Employment and Labor Law attorneys are here to help.
